PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Placido Polanco's eighth-inning RBI Tuesday boosted the Philadelphia Phillies to an 8-7 win over Florida and into first place in the National League East.
The Phillies blew a three-run lead in the top of the eighth, allowing the tying run to score on a wild pitch by Ryan Madson (5-2). But they came right back in the bottom of the frame to re-take the lead.
Shane Victorino (2-for-5, solo homer) hit a two-out single off Jose Veras (2-2), stole second and scampered home when Polanco lined an opposite field hit to right.
Madson atoned for the wild pitch by tossing a scoreless ninth and the Phillies moved into first place for the first time since May, bypassing the Atlanta Braves by a half-game. The Braves lost 5-0 to Pittsburgh Tuesday.
Polanco finished 3-for-5, Raul Ibanez homered, tripled and drove in three runs and Ryan Howard added a solo shot and scored three runs for the Phillies.
Emilio Bonifacio went 3-for-4 and scored three times for Florida.
